Quebec Premier François Legault is calling on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to follow through on a commitment to grant Quebec more control over immigration.
Legault said he does not share the gloomy outlook on Quebec's future in Canada expressed by Parti Québécois leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon. Legault questioned Plamondon's credentials, noting that "not so long ago Mr. St-Pierre Plamondon was a member of the CAQ party."
The premier is pressing Trudeau to deliver on the promise to transfer more immigration powers to Quebec, a key demand from the province. Legault feels Trudeau has "good intentions" but is "waiting for action" from the federal government on this and other issues like francization, irregular immigration, health, inflation, infrastructure and the environment.

Meanwhile, Legault fires back at PQ Leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, accusing him of being a Johnny-come-lately to nationalism.
