Gu Zhenzhen, a Chinese-born immigrant, moved to Toronto over three decades ago to study magazine journalism. After staying home for a decade to care for her four children, she returned to school and earned a bachelor's degree in education, becoming a teacher at the Toronto District School Board. Gu has had a variety of jobs, from a flower seller to a Mandarin teacher, which she says have provided her with rich material for her writing. She now works at the Toronto Public Library. Gu faced challenges as a newcomer, such as the language barrier and homesickness, but she persevered and adjusted to her new life in Canada. She found that Canada is a country of immigrants, where she has made friends from diverse backgrounds, and she has enjoyed exploring the country's many beautiful places.
